Admissions (contract based studies)

  • Tuition fee

    Tuition fee is updated every year in June for upcoming academic year.

    You can find tuition fee for bachelor’s, master’s, PhD and university foundation programs in Program catalog.

  • Application period

    Bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degree programs

    • February 20, 2023 – August 01, 2023 (for applicants from countries with visa regime)
    • February 20, 2023 – August 20, 2023 (for applicants from visa-free countries)

    University foundation programs

    • February 20, 2023 – January 10, 2024 (application deadline depends on the program’s start date).
  • Application documents
    1. Copy of passport (passport should be valid at least 2 years from the program’s start date)
    2. Official photo for documents (jpg format)
    3. Copy of educational document (certificate/diploma) with transcript
    4. Copy of translation into English or Russian of your educational document and transcript
    5. Additional documents for master’s degree applicants CV and motivation letter (for English-taught programs)
    6. Additional documents for PhD applicants CV, list of publications and research proposal.

Scholarship based education

  • How can a foreign citizen apply for a scholarship based place at the Polytechnic University?

    There are two opportunities to enter the scholarship based place (tuition free education) for foreign citizens:

    1. Participation in the Open Doors Olympiad. The Open Doors Olympiad – is an international Olympiad, the winners of which get the opportunity to study free of charge in a master's or PhD program at our university. You can find more detailed information on the website Open Doors.
    2. Admission within the quota of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Education under the quota of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation is tuition free education spot at the university, on the budget of the Russian Federation, within the quota established by the Government of the Russian Federation.   • How to get a scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation for education?

    Free education at the expense of the budget of the Russian Federation within the quota established by the Government of the Russian Federation implies:

    1. free education at SPbPU,
    2. receiving a scholarship in the amount of 3,000 — 11,000 rubles per month, depending on the level and field of study.

  • How can I get a recommendation letter from SPbPU?

    If you would like to receive a recommendation letter from SPbPU for applying for a scholarship, you can contact the International Student Department.

  • Can I change the field of study if I study within the scholarship place (within the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation)?

    In accordance with paragraph 2.3. of section IV of the Meeting Protocol of the interdepartmental commission on the admission of foreign citizens for studies within the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 31, 2021 No. AK-130/05 pr, it is possible to change the field of study (specialty) within one enlarged group of professions, areas of training and specialties, as agreed with the SPbPU Institute.

  • How do I get username and password for personal student’s account?

    You will get username and password via email (to your email address that you used for applying to SPbPU) within a week after enrollment. In case you have not received the username and password, please, contact technical support.

  • Where can I get my group number?

Dormitories

  • Conditions

    Full-time students are accommodated in the block-type dormitory with 2-4-person rooms. Each block has two living rooms and an ensuite bathroom. Each dormitory comprises modern kitchens, laundry rooms, study rooms, and a leisure area.

  • Dormitory cost

    Accommodation fee per year for the self-funded students: 3,500 — 7,000 RUB. The cost depends on the dormitory and comfort conditions.

  • How to book a place at the dormitory?

    You should inform about your arrival in advance (10 days before arrival) dormitory management via email.

Arrival in Russia and St. Petersburg

  • Will someone pick me up at the airport?

    You can contract SPbPU Tutor Forces and ask about pick up and help with check in at the dormitory. You should inform about your arrival in advance, so there is enough time to find you a tutor.

  • I plan to arrive late at night/during weekend. Can I check in at the dormitory?

    Yes, you can if you inform about your date and time of arrival in advance via email.

  • Which documents do I need in order to enter Russia?

    International passport with a student visa (for countries with visa regime), legalized (if necessary) educational documents.

  • Visa invitations

    Contract based studies

    Visa invitations are issued after applicants successfully pass entrance exams and get their documents checked (for admission for degree programs) or after applications and educational documents are checked (for admission for university foundation programs).

    Visa invitation issuance takes about 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, three is no possibility to speed up the process.

    Scholarship based studies

    The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation prepares a visa invitation number for you. This happens after your application got approved and you got enrolled in SPbPU.

    You can find your personal visa invitation number in your personal account. With this invitation number you can apply for a visa at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in your country.

    Important!

    1. You cannot cross the border of the Russian Federation with the invitation only! You need a visa.
    2. Please check on the actual list of documents necessary for processing a student visa in the Russian Embassy/Consulate in the country of visa issuance.
    3. You cannot get your student visa in the Russian Federation.
