General information for students

Dear student!

You are enrolled at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University!

We would like to draw your attention to important information for first-year students:

  • Visa
    • If you are outside of the Russian Federation:

    You need a visa to come to the University, your visa information is displayed in the application status tracking form on the main page of the website.

    Here you can see a picture of how it is displayed in your personal account:

    With the number of visa referral, you apply for an initial visa to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in your country.

    • If you are in the Russian Federation:

    You need to come to the Passport and Visa Department of SPbPU and apply for visa extension (IMOP building, 28 Grazhdansky Ave., room 113).

    Important: if at 01.08.2023 you still have no referral from the RF Ministry of Education and Science but you need to extend the visa, you can come to our Passport and Visa Department (academic building № 15, 28 Grazhdansky Ave., 1 floor, room 113) to register an applicant’s visa
  • Dormitory

    Arrival at the University is possible from 22.08.2022. You can move into the dormitory no earlier than 29.08.2022.

    We will send you the information about your arrival in the dormitory after your admission. One week before your arrival you will need to contact the SPbPU Dormitory Complex and reserve a room.

  • Class Schedule

    You can find the necessary schedule by the name of the institute and by the number of your study group.

  • Personal account and email of the student

    Within a week after enrollment, the student receives a login and password for the student's personal account and corporate email data to the student's personal email address indicated upon enrollment.

    This email contains the Domain/Username and Password, which will be required in the future for registration.

    If you do not have access to the student’s personal account, you need to contact technical support.

  • Student ID card

    Student ID cards and transcripts are issued by the administration of your institute. If you find any errors in your student ID card and/or transcripts, or if they are damaged or lost, you should contact the Administration of your institute.

  • Student Pass (BSC)

    BSC is a contactless smart card that allows full-time students to use public transportation at reduced fares.

    To register for the BSC, it is necessary to apply at 28 Grazhdansky Ave. room 204, (academic building № 15).

  • Information and Library Complex (ILC)

    You can use the services of the Information and Library Complex after enrollment.

    Printed materials:

    Sets of textbooks recommended by teachers, you will receive in September in the department of Educational Literature (Main academic building, offices 169, 268). To get books you need to show your pass. To order books individually through the electronic catalog site, use your ILC (Information and Library Complex) login and password (given to you when you first visit the ILC). There, in your personal ILC user account, an electronic form is also available with a list of the books you have been issued and their return dates.

    Electronic resources:

    To access the resources of the SPbPU Digital Library and electronic library systems, use a single login/password for the student’s personal account. Instructions on how to access external databases are posted in their descriptions in the Registry of Accessible Databases on the IBC website.
