To be admitted to an educational program in the Russian Federation, applicants must provide recognized foreign academic credentials. Recognition of foreign education in the Russian Federation is carried out on the basis of the Federal Law № 273-FZ of December 29, 2012, «About education in the Russian Federation».
Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University as a National Research University is authorized to perform recognition of foreign academic credentials for the purpose of admission to SPbPU following its own procedure. This right was granted to the University on September 01, 2013, in accordance with p.11 of ar.107 of the above mentioned law.
This means that the University can make the final decision on the recognition of foreign education. Therefore, SPbPU applicants do not need to undergo the long and complicated procedure of recognition of their academic credentials at the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science in Moscow. SPbPU Centre for International Credentials Evaluation (CICE) performs all principal recognition duties.
The CICE has been functioning since November 1998. The Centre is equipped with the necessary technical infrastructure for verification of foreign academic credentials. Our specialists have great experience that guarantees reasonable credential evaluation decisions and high quality within a short time.
The recognition is based on the Regulations on the procedure of foreign education recognition of applicants for education at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (approved by the Order № 1928 of November 08, 2017).
To be admitted to SPbPU, the applicant must undergo:
- Preliminary evaluation of foreign academic credentials at the SPbPU Admission Commission prior to the date of admission
- Evaluation of foreign academic credentials at the CICE before January 01, 2023 (for 2022 applicants).
For evaluation of foreign academic credentials applicants should provide to the CICE the compulsory set of documents which includes:
- The identity document (generally, passport)
- A certified translation of identity document (in case it was issued not in the Russian language)
- The original of educational certificate (diploma, degree, graduation certificate)
- The original of educational certificateʼs supplement with the results of graduation examinations, subjects studied, study workload (hours, credits, weeks) and grades received
- Confirmation of the legalization of educational certificate and supplement, i.e., an «Apostille» stamp or a stamp of consular legalization (if the legalization is necessary)
- Certified translations of all educational documents, all imprints and stamps (in case they were issued not in the Russian language)
- Copies of all above listed documents.
All SPbPU students with foreign academic credentials must receive evaluation reports prior to January 01, 2023 (for 2022 applicants).
Credential evaluation report is not required if:
- The foreign citizen has Russian academic credentials
- The recognition certificate issued by the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science was received earlier.
