Before enrollment

  • Step 1. Fill in SPbPU online application form

    To apply please fill in an application in SPbPU online application system.

    User manual for foreign applicants (paid education).

    Application period:

    • For applicants from countries with visa regime: February 20, 2023 – August 01, 2023
    • for applicants from visa-free countries: February 20, 2023 – August 20, 2023

    Wait for the response from a manager of the Admission office for International students (hereinafter – Admission manager) in the chat of SPbPU online application system.

    Note!
    Your passport must be valid for at least 20 months as of the date of your arrival to the university (date of the visa extension/registration).
  • Step 2. Pass the entrance exams online

    Detailed information and schedule of admissions tests can be found here:

    There are no entrance exams for University foundation programs.

  • Step 3. Process your visa invitation and apply for a student visa (Only for foreign nationals from the visa-regime countries)

    To process your visa invitation, you have to provide the following information about the visa application in SPbPU online application system:

    • Country and place of birth;
    • Country and city of permanent residence;
    • Country and city of visa issuance where the Russian Embassy or Consulate is located.

    This information is required by the Ministry of internal affairs of the Russian Federation for processing your visa invitation.

    Note!
    Processing a visa invitation takes 4 to 6 weeks. There is NO possibility for urgent visa invitations issuance.
    With electronic invitation you can apply for a student visa issuance at the Russian Embassy or Consulate in the country of residence.
    Note!
    • You cannot cross the border of the Russian Federation with the invitation only! You need a visa.
    • Please check on the actual list of documents necessary for processing a student visa in the Russian Embassy/Consulate in the country of visa issuance.
    • You cannot get your student visa in the Russian Federation.
  • Step 4. Legalize and translate your documents

    1. Legalization

    Legalization is a procedure designed to give legal force to a document issued in the territory of one state in the territory of another one. Depending on the country of educational documents issuance, there are 2 types of legalization: consular legalization and apostille.

    For a number of countries which the Russian Federation has appropriate agreements on legal support with, no legalization is required. You can check at SPbPU Centre for International Credential Evaluation whether you need legalization of your documents or not.

    ! Note
    Legalization of educational documents can be only done in the country of their issuance. Please make sure that your educational documents (education certificate / diploma and transcript) have been properly legalized PRIOR to your arrival to SPbPU.

    2. Translation of the educational documents

    Translation of the educational documents

    You can see the list of countries at SPbPU Centre for International Credential Evaluation.

    Properly certified translations must be filed with copies of the translated documents.

    Please make sure that spelling of the name and surname is the same in all documents and their translations.

  • Step 5. Fill in the necessary application forms and sign an study contract

    Upon successful completion of the entrance tests, you will receive the necessary application forms and a study contract in SPbPU online application system. Documents must be printed out, signed, scanned and attached back to the appropriate section in SPbPU online application system.

  • Step 6. Pay tuition fees via SPbPU electronic payment system

    You will receive payment instructions from your Admission manager in SPbPU online application system.

    After making the payment, you need to send a confirmation of payment (check or receipt) by uploading the document to the appropriate section in SPbPU online application system.

  • Step 7. Receive an extract from the university entry order

    You will receive an extract from the entry order from your Admission manager in SPbPU online application system after confirmation of payment.

Congratulations! You officially became a student of SPbPU!

Upon enrollment to the university

After arrival

  • Step 1. Dormitory check-in (if needed)

  • Step 2. Come to the university visa department

    Please make sure that you receive your migration card with the stamp of arrival to the Russian Federation indicating the purpose of your arrival as STUDY (УЧЁБА) at the Customs Control Zone.

    Please remember that you must keep the migration card until your next crossing the border.

    International students during their studies at the University can be accommodated in the University’s dormitories , or at a private address (hotel/hostel/rented apartment, etc.).

    If you plan to stay at the dormitory, you should get your migration registration at SPbPU Passport and visa department. If you do NOT plan to stay at the dormitory, you should get the migration registration at the place of stay and submit a copy of it to SPbPU passport and visa department.

    ! Note
    • All foreign citizens arriving to the Russian Federation must register according to the place of residence (dormitory / private address) within 3 days after crossing the Russian Federation border. The penalty for late registration may vary from paying a RR 5000 fine to deportation from Russia!
    • All international students must extend their student visas / registration no later than 45 days prior to the date of its expiration.

  • Step 3. Obtain medical insurance certificate

    ! NoteMake sure you take an electronic ticket at the entry to the corridor (2nd floor).

    You should submit the following documents:

    1. Originals of your educational documents (diplomas) and their notarized translations into Russian (and Xerox copies of all documents);
    2. Your passport and notarized translation into Russian of the passport photo page (and Xerox copies of all documents);
    3. A Xerox copy of the passport photo page and visa (if available) on one sheet of paper;
    4. 4 photos 3*4 cm.
  • Step 5. Get the SPbPU student’s documents

    1. A student card and gradebook will be given to you at the study office of your institute.
