Extension of the migration card for the academic year and marking in the migration card for visa-free countries is performed at the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department (PVD) of the University.

1. Prepare all documents to extend your migration registration in advance
To extend your registration (for the period up to 1 year), please prepare and submit the following documents to the Passport and Visa Department no later than 30 days prior to the expiry date of your registration:

2. Collect your extended migration card and your registration
If a foreign national (student, postgraduate student, intern) leaves the Russian Federation, after returning to the territory of Russia he/she must apply for resuming his/her migration registration at the place of residence within 3 working days.
A foreign national who has lost his/her migration card or registration may stay without any of them in the territory of the Russian Federation no longer than for 3 days. Therefore, the card and registration must be urgently restored. Please contact the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department at #28 Grazhdansky Ave., 15th educational building, offices #112 and #113.
You can extend the period of your lawful stay in Russia for up to 1 year by extending your Russian visa. By instructions of the University Administration, your visa might be extended for a period less than one year.
You can extend a single-entry visa and a multiple-entry visa.
1. Submit documents to extend your visa.
To extend your visa, please prepare a full set of relevant documents and submit them in person to the Passport and Visa Department no earlier than 90 calendar days and no later than 45 calendar days prior to the expiry date of your visa. Please prepare the following documents:
A multi entry visa will be ready within 45 calendar days upon submission of the documents to the Passport and Visa Department.
After submission of the documents for visa extension, a foreign national should have on him/her: a confirmation slip issued by the Passport and Visa Department; the migration card and a Xerox copy of the actual registration. The passport of the foreign national will stay with the Passport and Visa Department.
2. Collect your passport with a multi entry visa
You can collect your passport with a multi entry visa at the Passport and Visa Department on the date indicated in the slip issued to you when submitting documents.
We kindly request that you do not purchase air or train tickets in advance. Please check on the expiry dates of your documents when booking your tickets for exiting and entering Russia.
You cannot enter Russia prior to the date of entrance indicated in your visa nor stay in Russia after your visa has expired.
3. Extend your registration after receiving your passport with a new visa
Registration of foreign nationals staying in the university dormitories is processed by the Passport and Visa Department.
If you rent an apartment, please ask your landlord to extend your registration. A foreign national must register at the place of residence within 3 days after receiving his/her passport with extended visa and submit the new migration registration to the SPbPU Passport and Visa Department.
